SOLOMON CONTRASTS THE OUTCOME OF THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED.

Proverbs 11:1-9

Q.1. How should we treat others? What is the outcome for those who mistreat others? Is it wise to trust in your own resources? What is more valuable than riches?  – (Prov.11:1-4)

Solomon used strong language to denounce those who are dishonest and deceptive in their dealings with others, because it – is an abomination to the Lord (Prov.11:1). No amount of wealth can insulate us against the trials of life. When we trust in our own resources, we do not learn to trust in God. However, in the end, and especially when we become old and frail, it is our relationship with the Lord that will sustain us in life, and into eternity (Prov.11:2-4).  Evil people will get caught in their own lies, schemes, and traps. Beyond that, they will have to give an account before their Maker and Judge (Prov.11:3). Solomon observed – Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death (Prov.11:4).

Q.2. Of what can the righteous be confident in life and death? What will happen to the wicked and the treacherous person? Does a righteous man have to fear slander? – (Prov.11:4-9)

How quickly circumstances can change. Ultimately, it is crucial that we are strongly connected to the Lord. The righteous can expect a smoother ride in life and will be delivered in the day of trouble (Prov.11:5-6 & 8). The world owes much to those who live for God, because – through knowledge the righteous will be delivered (Prov.11:9). The righteous know that they can depend on the Lord in life. They are also confident in knowing that for the life hereafter, they continue to have hope (Prov.11:7-9).
