ATTITUDES AND ACTIONS THAT LEAD TO BLESSING.

Proverbs 14:27-35

Q.1. What attitudes to God and to people ensure a fulfilling life? – verses 27-32

We should fear the Lord above all others, since this brings security throughout our lives – The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may avoid the snares of death (Prov.14:27). It is crucial that we curb our natural tendencies, and instead grow to be like Jesus, because – He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who is quick-tempered exalts folly. A tranquil heart is life to the body, but passion is rottenness to the bones (Prov.14:29-30). If we trust God rather than people and circumstances, this will help us to control our passions, and protect us throughout our lives – He who oppresses the poor taunts his Maker, but he who is gracious to the needy honours Him … the righteous has a refuge when he dies (Prov.14:31-32).

Q.2. In what way does a rule of righteousness bless a nation? – verse 32-35

People often think they can get away with falsehood. However, God declares that – The wicked is thrust down by his wrongdoing. (Prov.14:32). Sin left unchecked is not only a disgrace but will also bring to a nation God’s wrath and judgment – Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people (Prov.14:34). This reminds us of the importance of having guiding principles and boundaries that ensure God’s blessing on the people.
