Job 24:1-25
Q.1. What question did Job raise about God’s dealings with His children? Why was His treatment of the wicked so hard to bear? Will God’s inaction last forever? – (Job.24:1-25)
Job was undergoing immense suffering. In this weakened state he questioned why God does not make His judgment of the wicked clearer. He contended that this would make it so much easier for the righteous to cope during times of suffering. He then comprehensively documented the treatment of the wicked against the vulnerable and defenceless – From the city men groan, and the souls of the wounded cry out; Yet God does not pay attention to folly (Job 24:12). These evil people care nothing about the light and the truth. Nevertheless, Job knew that their days were numbered, and that judgment will overtake them – They are exalted a little while, then they are gone; Moreover, they are brought low and like everything gathered up; Even like the heads of grain they are cut off (Job 24:24). Job was sure that his critics would not be able to find fault with his argument (Job.24:25). However, he was missing the point, if he thought he should be privy to all God’s ways. Jesus explained that there are many things that we will not know about God’s dealings this side of glory, when he told His disciples before His ascension – … It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority (Acts 1:7). We should sympathize with Job’s confusion. God’s ways hidden from us, but would we cope if the details of our futures were unfolded before us?
