Ezekiel 30:1-26
Q.1. What will happen to all the nations who try to save Egypt? – (Ezk.30:1-9)
The previous chapter prophesied the destruction of Egypt. In this chapter, the prophet envisioned the future destruction of Egypt plus all the surrounding nations who have been in league together – … Wail, Alas for the day! For the day is near, even the day of the Lord is near; It will be a day of clouds, a time of doom for the nations (Ezk.30:2-3). He identified Egypt, Ethiopia and all the nations of the Middle East (Ezk.30:4-5). Egypt’s pride will be brought down – and they will know that I am the Lord (Ezk.30:8). God’s purpose for judgment is to extend grace to these nations.
Q.2. What will become of Egypt’s pride of her power? – (Ezk.30:10-19)
God will use Babylon to execute His judgment (Ezk.30:10 & 19). Ezekiel methodically listed off all the cities and key places of Egypt and described their destruction (Ezk.30:11-19). They had relied on their own power. This had filled them with pride in their accomplishments. Now their pride and power would be brought down (Ezk.30:18).Â
Q.3. How will Egypt be treated? Who will God use to scatter Egypt? Why? – (Ezk.30:20-26)
Ezekiel was told that – I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands (Ezk.30:23). The fulfilment of this prophecy will drive home the fact that – I am the Lord (Ezk.30:25-26).
