Psalm 65:1-13
Q.1. How did David approach God? What made him grateful to God? Why is God worthy of our trust? For what did David express appreciation for the Lord? – (Ps.65:1-13)
David knew his place before God and started out declaring – There will be silence before You, and praise in Zion, O God, and to You the vow will be performed (Ps.65:1). His son Solomon taught the same about bargaining with God with vows and promises when he wrote – Do not be hasty in word or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven and you are on the earth; therefore, let your words be few (Ecc.5:2). Rather, we should praise God. He expressed his gratitude for God’s care for sinners – 2 O You who hear prayer, to You all men come. 3 Iniquities prevail against me; As for our transgressions, You forgive them (Ps.65:2-3). God’s kindness made David feel very special (Ps.65:4). He expressed his trust in the Lord for His awesome, deeds, His righteous rule, and His saving grace extended to all. He declared – You are the trust of all the ends of the earth and to the farthest sea (Ps.65:5). The ends of the earth and all people are dependent upon God whether they know it or not. David also acknowledged the display of God’s power over nature (Ps.65:6-8). He closed by describing God’s generous provision of rain, grain, and blessing on their flocks – You have crowned the year with Your bounty, and Your paths drip with fatness Ps.65:11).
