GOD ALONE IS WORTHY OF PRAISE IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH.

Psalm 148:1-14

Q.1. How were all things in the universe created? How long will they last? How do these heavenly beings and bodies bring praise to God? – (Ps.148:1-6 c.f. Ps.19:1-4)

God spoke everything in the heavens and on the earth into existence – … For He commanded and they were created (Ps.148:5). Though this world has existed under different conditions, God Himself created the heavens, the angels, and hosts of Heaven – He has also established them forever and ever; He has made a decree which will not pass away (Ps.148:6). Though further changes have been prophesied, it will all last forever. As Paul pointed out, everything is created for His purpose, and brings God praise – 39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fish. 40 There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is one, and the glory of the earthly is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory (1 Cor.15:39-41). The heavens bring glory to God – The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands (Ps.19:1).

Q.2. How do the elements and the animal kingdom bring God glory? Why is it fitting for His children … and all humanity great and small to praise the Lord? – (Ps.148:7-14)

It is wonderful to know the One Who has made all these things so magnificently, and to rejoice in the wonders of the earth, the heavens, and all the fauna and flora He designed. This all brings praise to God. Great and small alike should give credit to God for all that He has made – Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His glory is above earth and heaven (Ps.148:13). It is an insult to attribute these marvels to pure chance or ‘mother nature’. God’s people can especially appreciate that one so infinitely great has chosen to elevate sinners into His everlasting family (Ps.148:14).
