GOD WILL PRESERVE A REMNANT AND DESTROY ISRAEL’S DESTROYER

Isaiah 10:20-34

Q.1. What would God’s chastening do for His people? Is God finished with Israel? What will happen to Assyrian and Zion’s destroyers? – (Isa.10:20-34)

Isaiah revealed that the reason for the chastening was to ensure that there will be a faithful remnant who will survive at a future time – Now in that day the remnant of Israel, and those of the house of Jacob who have escaped, will never again rely on the one who struck them, but will truly rely on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel (Isa.10:20). Though Israel will be comprehensively destroyed, God has by no means finished with His people, – 21 A remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God. 22 For though your people, O Israel, may be like the sand of the sea, only a remnant within them will return; A destruction is determined, overflowing with righteousness. 23 For a complete destruction, one that is decreed, the Lord God of hosts will execute in the midst of the whole land (Isa.10:21-23). God brought a word of encouragement to a remnant of Israel. He informed them that ‘in a little while’, His indignation would be directed toward the destruction of the Assyrians. He would remove their yoke, as He did when He destroyed Egypt (Isa.10:25-27). He would lop off the lofty boughs with a terrible crash (Isa.10:33-34).
