Ezekiel 29:1-21
Q.1. What was it about Egypt that God was going to bring under His judgment? What was God seeking to achieve? – (Ezk.29:1-12, 16 & 21)
The geographical feature that has blessed Egypt is the river Nile. However, the Egyptians vainly claimed that they had made, and owned the river (Ezk.29:2-3). By their demise, all the inhabitants of Egypt – will know that I am the Lord God (Ezk.29:6, 9, 16, 21). Not only is God our Maker and Owner, all people and things were created for His glory.
Q.2. How did God’s judgment of Egypt involve Babylon and Israel? – (Ezk.29:13-21)
Israel had foolishly turned to Egypt to save them from the might of the Babylonians. However – It will be the lowest of the kingdoms and will never again lift itself above the nations … (Ezk.29:15). Israel had disobeyed the warnings of the prophets of God and had insulted the Lord by trusting in the power of man. – it will never again be the confidence of the house of Israel bringing to mind the iniquity of their having turned to Egypt. Then they will know that I am the Lord God (Ezk.29:16). Egypt would be destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon (Ezk.29:19). The dynamic will change – on that day I will make a horn sprout for the house of Israel, and I will open your mouth in their midst. Then they will know that I am the Lord (Ezk.29:21).
