GOD’S MIRACULOUS INTERVENTION ON BEHALF OF HIS PEOPLE.

Psalm 105:23-45

Q.1. How much did God’s intervention on behalf of the nation change the fortunes of the people? – (Ps.105:23-37)

These verses describe the birth of the nation of Israel when Moses was their leader. When Egypt increased its persecution of the people of Israel, and intensified their bondage, God brought judgment on Egypt and Egypt’s gods. After that, the Israelites were driven out – then He brought them out with silver and gold, and among His tribes there was not one who stumbled (Ps.105:37). Such spiritual blessings are lavished on all who come from darkness to the light (c.f. Col.1:13-14).

Q.2. Why did God give Israel the Promised Land? Can this be applied to Christian believers? – (Ps.105:38-45)

God led them through the wilderness, while forging them into a nation, through adversity. He took them to the Promised Land. There were some reasons given as to why God did this. The first related to the fact that God is faithful and true – For He remembered His holy Word with Abraham His servant (Ps.105:42). The second was that God wanted to have the undivided heart of the nation – So that they might keep His statutes and observe His laws, Praise the Lord! (Ps.105:45). Over the centuries, God has furnished ample proof to the world of His existence, through keeping His promises (and curses) with regards to this land. Christian believers do not have such a land. Our citizenship is in Heaven (c.f. Phil.3:20-21) The surety of these unseen heavenly promises, rests on the foundation of the way God has kept His promises with the geographical territory of Israel.
