Proverbs 21:1-12
Q.1. Why is it important to factor God into all our dealings individually and collectively? – (Prov.21:1-2)
God is sovereign over all. The reason why the Bible commands us to submit to all authorities is because even – The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes (Prov.21:1). Regardless of a man’s own assessments and excuses, it is the Lord Who weighs the hearts. That is true both individually and collectively. We are wise to always factor in God’s omnipotence and omniscience (Prov.21:2).
Q.2. What does the Lord want us to remember as we pass through life? – (Prov.21:3-8)
Religious sacrifice and practices can be outward and for show, whereas righteousness and justice stem from the heart (Prov.21:3). God sees our pride, lying and crookedness and will reward us accordingly (Prov.21:4-7). Our hearts will be exposed by our actions – As for the pure, his conduct is upright (Prov.21:8).
Q.3. How does the writer explain the different outcomes for the wise and the wicked? – (Prov.21:10-12)
Ultimately a wicked person cannot be trusted (Prov.21:10). Sooner or later, the wicked and scoffers will be exposed and be a deterrent for the inexperienced. Wise people benefit from instruction and experience (Prov.21:11-12). It is less enjoyable to live with an argumentative woman than to be alone (Prov.21:9).
