LEARNING TO PLEASE GOD WITH YOUR ATTITUDES AND ACTIONS.

Proverbs 19:21-29

Q.1. What attitudes should we develop towards planning the future? What difference will fearing God make? – (Prov.19:21-23)

God’s plan is not about wealth or perfect health – it is more about growing in kindness and developing godly character (Prov.19:22). This requires an underlying attitude of fearing what God thinks, more than what people think (Prov.19:23). We must also make our plans according to His perspective, since – the counsel of the Lord will stand (Prov.19:21). In keeping the right attitude towards God, we can sleep with a clear conscience and not fear that things will spiral out of control (Prov.19:23).

Q.2. What is the outcome to our attitudes and responses toward those whom God has placed in authority over us? – (Prov.19:24-27)

Solomon spoke about slackers, scoffers, the immature, and those who dishonour and disobey their parents (Prov.19:24-26). All showed a lack of regard for those whom God had placed in authority over them (Prov.19:23). Slackers end up poor. Scoffers insulate themselves against truth. However, a wise man will benefit from reproof (Prov.19:25 & 27). Those who show disrespect for parents – will stray from the words of knowledge (Prov.19:26-27). All such people will suffer loss.

Q.3. Does it matter if we are careless about fair play and consequences? What will the outcomes be? – (Prov.19:28-29)

Solomon also shared insights about those who work against justice. They spread iniquity with their false testimonies and make a mockery of justice. Judgment and punishment will be given to scoffers and fools (Prov.19:28-29).
