Nahum 2:1-13
Q.1. What did Nahum’s prophecy about Nineveh describe? What did it say about Israel? Why is all this destruction coming? – (Nah.2:1-13)
Nahum predicted the overthrow of Nineveh. Most of this chapter is dedicated to describing the terrible destruction. However, Nahum’s message was more hopeful for Israel – For the Lord will restore the splendour of Jacob like the splendour of Israel, even though devastators have devastated them and destroyed their vine branches (see Nah.2:2). This agrees with countless prophecies that describes Israel’s repentance and restoration during the Millennial Reign of Christ (see Hos.5:15; Ezk.36:22-29; 37:21-28; 39:25-29). Nineveh’s amassed wealth would be plundered, and she would be devastated because – “Behold, I am against you,” declares the Lord of hosts. “I will burn up her chariots in smoke, a sword will devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the land and no longer will the voice of your messengers be heard” (Nah.2:13).
