PAUL’S PRAYER FOR THE CHURCH TO BRING GLORY TO CHRIST.

Ephesians 3:14-21

Q.1. How are the family of Heaven and earth connected? For what did Paul pray, in the light of Christ’s mystery? – (Eph.3:14-19)

God is the Creator of Heaven and earth, and everything that is in them. Therefore, all belong to Him, and come under the authority of His name. There are no exceptions or exemptions (Eph.3:14-15 c.f. Jn.1:1-3; Heb.1:2). Paul prayed that the Ephesians would be granted God’s measureless strength by the power of the Holy Spirit. He longed for them to comprehend all the limitless resources in Christ – and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fulness of God (Eph.3:19). Since God’s unveiling of His great mystery, we now know that we all have the opportunity to be included in the family of God. The resources of the Godhead are available to all who belong to Christ (Eph.3:15).

Q.2. Is God bound by our limitations? What was Paul’s prayer regarding the relationship between Christ and the Church? – (Eph.3:20-21)

We all have limitations and live within boundaries. Paul wanted the Ephesians to understand that these do not apply to God, or His care of His children – He is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us (Eph.3:20).  All glory belongs to Christ Jesus. This should especially be observable and celebrated in the church. This then will ensure that the Gospel will reach to all generations (Eph.3:21). The spread of the name of Jesus, and of the Gospel, was Paul’s calling and reason for living (c.f. Eph.3:1; 4:1).
