Proverbs 29:10-17
Q.1. What is the difference in attitude between the wicked and the upright? How should leaders rule their people? – (Prov.29:10-12 & 14)
The unconverted do not like the blameless, whereas the righteous have their best interests at heart (Prov.29:10). Also – A fool always loses his temper, but a wise man holds it back (Prov.29:11). Rulers are responsible to keep people accountable, lest – his ministers all become wicked (Prov.29:12). On the other hand – If a king judges the poor with truth, his throne will be established forever (Prov.29:14).
Q.2. What truth comforts us, regardless of our treatment by people? Will wickedness prevail forever? – (Prov.29:13, 16)
People do not have unlimited freedom to do as they please. It is good to remember that – The Lord gives light to the eyes of both (Prov.29:13). Even when wickedness is out of control, the righteous have the assurance that it will come crashing down sooner or later (Prov.29:16).
Q.3. Why is it essential to discipline children? What is the benefit of correction? – (Prov.29:15 & 17)
Our society denies the need for the rod and reproof with punishment, believing instead in the combination of education and rehabilitation. The Bible is clear that – The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother (Prov.29:15). Furthermore, the Bible urges us to – Correct your son, and he will give you comfort; He will also delight your soul (Prov.29:17). God’s way is still the only way to bring family harmony and peace and prosperity in society.
