SOLOMON AND HIS WIFE ENJOY THE LOVE THEY HAVE RESERVED FOR EACH OTHER.

Song of Solomon 7:1-13

Q.1. Did the king’s marriage to the Shulamite end their romance? What indicated that his love for his bride was growing? – (Song.7:1-9)

We tend to take our blessings for granted, and risk placing less value on the relationships that are the most important. This is a problem because we can be essentially selfish and self-focussed. It is obvious that the relationship between Solomon and his bride was fresh and growing. His love for her was not simply a repetition of meaningless ‘love’ words. Rather, he detailed what he found so attractive about her- How beautiful and how delightful you are, my love, with all your charms! (Song.7:6). This does not always come naturally and requires thoughtfulness.

Q.2. How confident was the bride in her involvement with her groom? How did her purity and patience enhance her love for her him? – (Song.7:9-13)

Marital love requires exclusivity. It cannot grow when it is shared with rivals.  In this atmosphere of growing love, the bride had confidence that – I am my beloved’s and his desire is for me (Song.7:10). She wanted to be with Solomon and share in his experiences. She had kept herself only for him and was ready to reciprocate his love for her – 12 Let us rise early and go to the vineyards …There I will my love to you. 13 The mandrakes have given forth fragrance; And over our doors are all choice fruits, both new and old, which I have saved up for you, my beloved (Song.7:12-13).
