THE BLESSING OF EMBRACING GOD’S WORD.

Psalm 119:97-104

Q.1. How did the Psalmist benefit from following God’s Word? Are age and education a guarantee of spirituality? What attitude of the Psalmist is worth copying? – (Ps.119:97-100)

The Psalmist loved meditating on God’s Word, because he knew it increased his wisdom. God’s Word gave him a distinct advantage, not just over his enemies, but also over the education of his teachers, and the experience of the aged. Age and education do not guarantee spirituality. However, it is not enough to just know the Truth. We need to put the truth into action.

Q.2. How did God protect the Psalmist because he highly valued God’s Word? What commitments undergird that protection? – (Ps.119:101-104)

Those who know the blessings of obedience, and the warnings against disobedience, will find special protection. God’s Word reveals the damage done when we drift from God. It was the Psalmist’s excitement about embracing the Word of God, that was his best asset – How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! (Ps.119:103).
