THE BLESSING OF MARITAL FAITHFULNESS AND COST OF INFIDELITY.

Proverbs 5:15-23

Q.1. What point was Solomon making in his reference to water? How important is sexual love in marriage? What is the greatest deterrent to infidelity for the godly? – (Prov.5:15-23)

Solomon spoke about the sexual refreshment that is reserved exclusively for marriage. To drink from another’s well or to seek this satisfaction outside of your spouse, is dangerous and costly – 15 Drink water from your own cistern and fresh water from your own well. 16 Should your springs be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets? 17 Let them be yours alone and not for strangers with you (Prov.15-17). Solomon shared an important secret – to pay attention to, and to sexually enjoy your spouse – 18 Let your fountain be blessed and rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19 As a loving hind and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; Be exhilarated always with her love (Prov.5:18-19). By finding satisfaction in your spouse, you will be less likely to look outside the marriage. He warned about the deceitful excitement of adultery.  You may deceive your spouse, but God is watching – For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He watches all his paths (Prov.5:21). Patterns of infidelity become a trap that is hard to break, and the price will often be permanent – 22 His own iniquities will capture the wicked, and he will be held with the cords of his sin. 23 He will die for lack of instruction, and in the greatness of his folly he will go astray (Prov.5:22-23). God is called Faithful and True (Rev.19:11). He calls on us to be the same.
