THE GLORY OF GOD DEPARTS FROM THE TEMPLE.

Ezekiel 10:1-22

Q.1. What tragedy was Ezekiel witnessing in his vision of God? – (Ezk.10:1-5, 18-22)

The fact that Ezekiel had a true and awesome vision of the glory of God, was supported by similar visions of Isaiah, and also the apostle John hundreds of years later (Ezk.10:1-5 c.f. Isa.6:1-7; Rev.4:2-6). Ezekiel was shocked to see the Glory of God departing from the Temple in Jerusalem (Ezk.10:18-19). This was a prelude to the terrible judgment about to descend upon Israel and Jerusalem, the city of God.

Q.2. Was Ezekiel’s vision new? What impact is the vision supposed to make on us? –(Ezk.10:4-22)

Ezekiel made it clear that each vision was the same as what he had seen before (Ezk.10:15, 20-22 c.f. Ezk.1:3, 5, 22, 26, 28; 8:4). Anyone reading these descriptions would be filled with awe (Ezk.10:4-5, 6-19). However, to the nation to whom it was delivered, it was a message of unavoidable doom. The clear impression is that the Lord God is totally in control and is directing the circumstances of the nations. It was true back then, and it remains true today. God will execute His plans with relenting accuracy. No one can either thwart or resist His purposes (c.f. Job 42:2; Rev.20:11).
