THE PASSION OF THE PSALMIST FOR GOD’S WORD.

Psalm 119:25-32

Q.1. What was the theme of the Psalmist in His approach to God? – (Ps.119:25-31)

The Psalmist knew that vitality and revival come from God and His Word (Ps.119:25). He wanted the Lord to teach him His principles and precepts. He recognized that to be a faithful servant, he needed fresh insights constantly, in order to keep his heart malleable and on track (Ps.119:26-27). We stray so easily and need the same input from the Bible. The Psalmist described his weeping and grief that threatened to influence his desires. So that he would not be misled, he was committed to – … cling to Your testimonies (Ps.119:31 c.f. Ps.119:28-30).

Q.2. What did the Psalmist hope to gain from meditating on the Word of God? – (Ps.119:25-32)

The Psalmist knew from where his blessing came, because – I have told of my ways and You answered me (Ps.119:26). He loved a response from his God – so I will meditate on Your wonders (Ps.119:27). He sought protection from every false way, lest he be put to shame (Ps.119:29). He was utterly dependent on God for his strength – I shall run the way of Your commandments for You enlarge my heart (Ps.119:32). The Psalmist understood the relationship between God and His Word.
