THE PSALMIST REVEALS HIS HEART FOR GOD AMID OPPOSITION.

Psalm 119:17-24

Q.1. What prayer requests did the Psalmist bring to God? – (Ps.119:17-19)

The Psalmist prayed that God would deal bountifully with him, so – that I may live and keep Your Word (Ps.119:17). God’s blessing should motivate us to live a life that pleases Him. He also prayed specifically that he would never lose his wonder of God and God’s Truth – Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderful things from Your law (Ps.119:18). The Psalmist understood that he belonged to God, not to the world (Ps.119:19).

Q.2. How did the Psalmist maintain his confidence in the midst of oppression? – (Ps.119:20-24)

There are always people who may be critical of us because of our faith. This can be crushing at times (Ps.119:20 & 22). The Psalmist was comforted to know that God is the Judge. He himself kept meditating on and delighting in God’s Word (Ps.119:23). He considered – Your testimonies also are my delight; They are my counsellors (Ps.119:24).
