WISDOM LEADS US IN THE PATHS OF FAITHFULNESS AND RIGHTEOUSNESS

Proverbs 2:12-22

Q.1.  From what will wisdom protect us? How will it keep us from infidelity? How did Solomon describe the tactics and damage done by adulterers? – (Prov.2:10-19)

Wisdom is not just head knowledge, but it will also bring a change of heart – wisdom will enter your heart (Prov.2:10). It will protect you from ungodly people who stray from the paths of righteousness (see Prov.2:12-13). Some people enjoy thinking that they are able to get away with evil (see Prov.2:14-15). Moreover, wisdom helps us to see through the flattery of adulterers who forget the covenant of marriage made before God (see Prov.2:16-17). What the unwise overlook, is that – 18 her house sinks down to death and her tracks lead to the dead; 19 None who go to her return, nor do they reach the paths of life (Prov.218-19). You are changed when you follow your lustful passions. The consequences are permanent unless there is genuine repentance.

Q.2. What difference will it make to follow the paths of wisdom? How will it end for wicked people? – (Prov.2:20-22)

Israel’s occupancy in the Promised Land depended on her covenant faithfulness. Those who pursued the way of the wicked would be uprooted from the land and would lose their heritage (see Prov.2:22). Those who were wise would tread the path of the righteous and maintain their heritage in the land (see Prov.2:20-21).
